Learning Rights Town Hall - May 2, 2015

On May 2, 2015, Learning Rights held its annual, day-long, Town Hall at the East Los Angeles Service Center. More than 100 parents of special needs children attended from throughout Los Angeles County.

Parents were given the option of attending different workshops ranging from Transitions into Adulthood to Mental Health to Self-Advocacy Tips, which were taught by Learning Rights staff, private attorneys, special education teachers, a psychologist and others working in the special

education field. In order to capture the parent perspective, most workshops had TIGER Parent Leaders as co-presenters. A total of 11 parents co presented. Parents also had the opportunity to discuss and plan to address school district-specific issues.
